When The Week Ain't Week'ing

Spring break was supposed to be that week. You know the one—you’ve got the time, the energy, the vision, and suddenly you’re booking your life like you’re the CEO you always imagined being. In my head, this week had everything: daily gym sessions, a golf lesson (because we’re getting back to it, okay), a fully prepped and polished Airbnb-ready home before my travels, meetings with future collaborators, cute nightly outings… the whole vibe.

And for a moment, I really thought I was about to do all of it. But somewhere between the to-do lists, the calendar blocks, and real life doing what it does, I had to pause and make an executive decision: what actually matters this week? Here’s the truth—everything can feel important when you’re in a season of growth. Every idea feels like this is the one, every opportunity feels like I need to say yes, and every open moment feels like it should be filled. But time will humble you real quick. Energy will check you. And clarity? That only comes when you’re honest about your capacity.

So I got real with myself. The priority wasn’t hanging my new artwork—it was making sure my home was clean, functional, and ready to host well. The priority wasn’t being outside every night—it was showing up prepared and present for the meetings that could actually move things forward. The priority wasn’t doing everything—it was doing the right things.

Once I made peace with that, something shifted. I stopped looking at what didn’t get done and started honoring what did. I went to the gym. I showed up to my meetings. I handled my responsibilities. I made decisions that future me will benefit from. And maybe it didn’t look as aesthetic or as “full” as I imagined—but it was aligned. It was necessary. It was disciplined. And I’m proud of that.

Growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like choosing responsibility over randomness. Sometimes it looks like saying no to the extra thing so you can say yes to what actually matters. Sometimes it looks like a quiet week where you don’t do everything—but you do enough of the right things to keep moving forward.

So no, the artwork didn’t get hung. The nightly outings didn’t happen. But what needed to get done? Got done. And honestly? That’s the kind of win I’m learning to celebrate.
